The highest elevation points of the property are in this area, where the trees enjoy unobstructed views of Aviator Meadow. The historic Homestead Barn is a short walk away.
In late spring and early summer, this part of the forest comes alive with pink and white mountain laurel blooms, while leafy bracken fern, a variety of mushrooms, and wild edible blueberries grow along the forest floor.
Situated on the border of an expansive pastoral meadow, the trees here along the forest’s edge have the best views overlooking the Green Mountains and Berkshire Mountains.
In spring, the meadow blooms with violets, quaker ladies, and dandelions. In warmer months, local wildlife like deer, bears, turkeys, raccoons, and foxes can be seen visiting the meadow.
This area is also home to the Sugar Shack, a historic structure built by the original property owner used for small-batch maple syrup production.
