The Forest Memorial
The entire family gathered for Gary’s Forest Memorial. “They were amazed,” Bonnie said. “The forest and ceremony were beautiful and stunning.” The ceremony included a gentle explanation of life’s cycles to their autistic son, Nicolas, using a butterfly chrysalis as a metaphor for transformation. It was a poignant way to explain life and death.
“I don’t really know if Nicolas knew it was Gary’s ashes,” Bonnie shared, “but he knew to sprinkle the seeds and water them.”
