This Monument red oak tree is right along the path in Woodland Theatre, about 30 yards away from the footbridge. The location makes this tree unique: You get that wonderful deep-in-the-forest feeling without actually being too deep in the forest.
Woodland Theatre has a true “heart of the forest” feel, where quiet surroundings amplify the sounds of nature. Deep in the forest, this section offers a sense of privacy.
A seasonal stream meanders along its eastern edge, creating a natural valley that separates Woodland Theatre from the rest of the forest.
Gentle rolling hills with winding trails add character to this easily walkable section of the forest. In spring and summer, the lush canopy overhead provides ample shade, invoking a secluded and tranquil feel.
You and your loved ones can visit your tree and the entire forest at any time during the spring, summer, and fall. The Rock River forest is open for regular visiting hours from April–October, Thursday–Monday. Just contact our team to make an appointment in advance. We’ll share travel recommendations to make the experience special.
We are currently open for visits by appointment, and we look forward to hosting you soon.
